Megève was founded by the Rothschild family in the 1920s, and has spent the last century cultivating it's particular blend of confident, French elegance. When it comes to walking holidays, Megève continues to deliver that same combination: with the addition of beautiful Alps trails, extraordinary scenery, and exceptional food at the end of every hike.
Hiking holidays in Megève span 150km of marked trails across three sectors. The Mont d’Arbois gondola whisks you to panoramic plateau trails with Mont Blanc. The Rochebrune cable car serves the historic massif above the village with family-friendly loops and the spectacular Christomet ridge crossing, while the Jaillet gondola opens up the Croisse Baulet, Col du Jaillet, and the Portes du Mont-Blanc network towards Combloux.

Getting to and around town:
Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you’ll find Megève a beautifully compact village with chestnut-lined squares, artisan boutiques, and celebrated food scene, all within walking distance.
Getting to your walks and hikes:
The Rochebrune cable car departs from the edge of town, and the Meg’Bus connects the village to the Mont d’Arbois and Jaillet gondola stations throughout summer for easy access to the main trail networks.

Can I still access Megève's lift and gondolas in the summer?
Yes, you can. Megève's lifts and gondolas still operate throughout the summer months, provided conditions are safe and favourable, and many of the mountain huts are still operational, so you can grab a bite to eat while savouring those epic mountain views.
When do Megève lifts and gondolas run during summer?
Mont d’Arbois Cable Car

A quick "Mountain Rule of Thumb": Last ascent is usually 15–30 minutes before the official closing time, and Last descent is the very last cabin down. If you miss it, it’s a long walk back!
Can I hire a mountain guide on my Megève walking holiday?
Yes, you can. Though these are not currently bookable via the Heidi website, you can enquire and book with the local tourist office, or visit their website. We recommend enquiring early to ensure availability.
